Microsoft Edge bug allows attackers to read emails and Facebook feed

22/06/2018; An independent researcher accidentally discovered a bug in Microsoft Edge that allows a hacker to read his victim's emails and facebook feed. Firefox can also be affected although only the beta version at this stage.

Google had already notified Microsoft about the vulnerability in its Edge browser, but Microsoft missed the 90-day disclosure deadline. As a result, Google revealed details about this flaw since it hasn't been fixed. While Google was communicative and gave extra time to fix the issue, the vulnerability still remained after a further two weeks.

This bug has been named as the Wavethrough Vulnerability. Microsoft has since released a patch to fix this vulnerability. Make sure your patches are always up to date.
